Dramatic Play !!

We have company this weekend, and I really do love to cook. We had grilled hamburgers, corn on the cob, steak fries (homemade ones), and watermelon - yummy !!

I made the girls (Jaidy's friends Dachon & DaJai are over this weekend) brownies and homemade milkshakes for dessert & now they are all watching The Princess Bride, one of my all time favorite movies. "Have fun storming the castle boys," is one of my favorite lines out of this movie. I love Billy Crystal's character in this movie, and it reminds me of some of my favorite fairy tales my Mom used to read me when I was growing up.

The girls are all played out & heading off to bed. DaJai is going to be 4 at the end of this month and she is the funniest little thing, but gets so mad when you laugh, so I was turning my back as I was giggling. Jaidy has a TV with a Dvd player in her play room, and they decided they were all going to a concert. I asked them if they wanted a CD put on, and they shouted Yeah !!

They picked out none other than Rascal Flatts which is Jaidy's favorite. Dachon is 5 1/2 & Jaidy is 6 1/2 so they are all like little stair steps. I was cutting up the watermelon while they were at the "concert." Jaidy and Dachon harmonize so well together and are awesome singers. They were in singing their hearts out while DaJai told me in her sweet little 4 year old voice, "I can't goto the concert until I find my credit card. It's 59 to goto the concert." (dollars I imagine). I turned my head to giggle, because it was so cute & she gets so mad when I laugh out loud.

DaJai is very attached to her woobie (blanket). Jaidy & Dachon came out to the kitchen to convince her that she needed to come to the concert. Jaidy told her she could bring her woobie. DaJai said, "NO, you can't take woobies to the concert."

We all started laughing out loud. DaJai got so mad, she said, "STOP LAUGHING - THIS IS NOT A FUNNY - I have a boyfriend Cayden (her crush at school) and Dachon has a boyfriend Xander too, but we DON'T play these games at the concert, OK ?????" The girls kept telling her, it's ok DaJai, the concert is free and we don't have any boyfriends there. DaJai is stubborn (I was until Guy Welton at 28 pointed out my personal defect & when the best looking smartest man in your life tells you that - you better take him seriously). She kept telling them NO.

I think it's because she worries about her singing ability, but she has a strong personality. You never know with her - she may not have all the talent that the older ones have, but she is stubborn. That stubborn streak took Bono to new heights. He didn't even know how to sing when he joined U2. He had to take voice lessons later in life, and he was actually born a redhead of all things (no wonder for the stubborness.)

I was nearly dying as I turned my head away to laugh. So Serious, but so funny at the same time.

I will have to make a note to myself to teach DaJai HOW to understand her humor later in life, as she is very sensitive like I am. It took me years to realize that I was really funny and that people weren't laughing at me, but that my imaginative honesty just made them laugh out loud. People liked me for my humor, and I need to teach this to DaJai how to take it when people laugh, so she doesn't think they are making fun of her.

It was a very entertaining day for the most part. They had a Wedding for Cinderella with Jaidy's dress up dresses starring Dachon as Cinderella, and Jaidy and DaJai as her bridesmaids. They played puppies & kitties for awhile (they pretend to be their favorite animals). Paulie and I are both very good actors (we are both pretty much into all of the arts) so Jaidan inherited those skills as well. It is a ton of fun to watch them play different characters. We have a dress up closet, and she loves to pretend. Her friends are all into it too, so it's that much more fun for them when they come over.

Needless to say, we may have a future girl band in the works, but guys work too if they find the right partners.....
